Business Development Manager, POLITICO Pro

This is a Full-time position in Arlington, VA posted February 15, 2021.

POLITICO is searching for a Business Development Manager to join our POLITICO Pro sales team. In this role, you are responsible for managing and overseeing the Business Development Associates on the POLITICO Pro New Business team. Specifically, the Business Development Manager will work closely with Associates on priorities centered around outbound and inbound sales, team revenue impact, sales coaching and development, and holistic professional development.

POLITICO Pro is POLITICO’s subscription service that arms policy professionals with in-depth policy reporting and a portfolio of tools they need to get the job done.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage 5-7 Business Development Associates to ensure they are hitting monthly and quarterly visit goals, effectively achieving daily outreach targets, scheduling quality visits to generate revenue , and developing the skills necessary to be successful in sales
  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions and regular check-ins with each associate on your team. You will coach associates around email scripting, cold calling, Salesforce process, MQL follow-up, optimizing sales enablement technologies (e.g. SalesLoft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, etc.), strategic thinking, objection handling, communication, research/prospecting, and time management
  • Provide regular formal and informal feedback to your associates on their performance, professionalism and demonstration of POLITICO’s values
  • Work with Account Executives to understand each associate’s performance strengths and areas of improvement and implement processes to improve performance when necessary
  • Serve as a liaison across departments including Revenue Operations, Marketing, Sales Enablement to ensure associates have what they need to be successful and hit their goals.
  • Ensure that the front-end of the sales process is accomplished with effective outreach (phone/email/social) and successful visit scheduling. Utilize data to make strategy decisions around visit pacing and acquisition for the BDA team
  • Responsible for the alignment of overall department goals with Pro associate objectives, metrics and measurements.
  • Work alongside stakeholders from Human Resources and Learning and Development to successfully onboard new hires
  • Interview and support recruitment of high potential talent to join the Pro associate team.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need:

  • B.A. / B.S. required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a revenue generating role (Business Development Associate, Business Development Representative, Sales Development Representative), or experience managing a business development team
  • Proven experience setting and regularly hitting results-driven goals and metrics
  • Ability to balance process-oriented mindset with innovation and critical thinking to drive consistent performance improvement
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to proactively identify performance gaps or issues and develop a plan to overcome performance barriers
  • Proficiency with Salesforce
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and a firm understanding of the DC marketplace.
